We All Have Challenges

In a recent lesson we were teaching about the advice of Paul to the Corinthians as he told the Saints about his own difficult affliction (2 Corinthians 12:8-10):
“8 For this I be sought The Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmaries, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then I am strong.”
We do all have challenges…difficulties…afflictions.
We find that our new friends here in Canberra also deal with the challenges and afflictions of life. One of our jobs is to support and help them. As Paul advised the Corinthians, we need to accept the Grace of Jesus Christ and by so doing, bring about the blessings The Lord wants to give us when we are obedient. Our difficulties will then become our strengths. We know this to be true. We have both had our share of afflictions and difficulties…the least of which was our journey just to get here, which many of you watched and helped us get through. But our difficulties have just made us stronger and have given us a unique perspective to help those here in Canberra.

Our hardest challenge here is not being where we can help our family members in the states and elsewhere in the world through their difficulties…except through prayer and fasting. We are grateful we have those two things to rely on. We pray everyday…more than once a day for our family and ask The Lord to help them through their difficulties. They are learning, also. Because we all have challenges and we all learn and grow by dealing with them. May our Father in Heaven always watch over our children, our grandchildren, our siblings and other extended family. And may He also bless our new found “family” here in Canberra. We are learning to love these wonderful people here. We care about them.

We are grateful to be here. We are grateful to serve in our stake here. We love our mission. We are happy to be serving The Lord.

Until next time…
