Our Call has arrived!

Here it is:

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of the Church of  Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Australia Sydney Mission. Your primary assignment is to labor in the Canberra Australia CES Programs as a CES specialist. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months. You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Monday, January 21, 2013.

We are so pleased to have recieved our mission call. We feel it was custom made for us. We chose not to specify what kind of mission we wanted, but trusted the Lord would pick the right thing for us…and He did!  The waitng has been a bit of a challenge. There have been several hiccups along the way which delayed the application process and the call process. But waitng is the Lord’s way of refining us. He observes our faithfullness and our dedication to never give up. And with hindsight, we see that the wait was for all the right reasons. To this, we are grateful. I also appears we will wait some more! Four months before we leave. Again, we have faith that this is what the Lord has chosesn for us and the waiting will also give us the chance to take care of the many things that still need to be done. We’ll be the most prepared “senior couple” out there!

Please visit this blog regularly. I hope to update it several times a month. I will wait to find out about Facebook after recieving information from our Mission President. But I am hopeful this will keep most of you up to date on what we will be doing.

And so we begin.

Love the idea of you having a blog while serving your mission! As you know, our youngest son is serving in the Japan, Kobe mission. Both his mission president and the president’s wife each have a blog. They post wonderful articles about conferences and mission goals, as well as some great photographs! What a blessing to live in an age of world-wide communication!

Yeah!!! Am I the first to leave a comment on your blog? So excited to be able to follow you both on this wonderful journey! As our Prophet says, “May heaven’s blessings be upon you.” XOXO

  3. Love you both – you will be a blessing to the people of Australia.
